The Empire State Building and iHeartMedia continue to inspire with a new music and light show to the beat of a mix of iconic Beatles songs

The Empire State Building (ESB) and iHeartMedia today announced a weekend break for New York City: a synchronized rock and roll music and light show at midnight, with the songs “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)” and “A Day in the Life” by The Beatles, which will premiere on Saturday, April 11 and Sunday, April 12 at 12:00 am Q104.3 from iHeartMedia, New York’s classic rock station , also available on the iHeartRadio app, will stream the songs live as the world-famous ESB tower lights present a brand new show that has been designed and performed by his own lighting artist,Marc Brickman . ESB and iHeartMedia will continue the special midnight shows every weekend as long as the stay-at-home order is in effect.

“Some people need a break, the opportunity to sing loudly and shake off the stress of the week. We encourage everyone in your home, first responders and people around the world to look outside and have a fun time, “stated Anthony E. Malkin , ESRT President and CEO.

In addition to its new light show, ESB will continue its nightly programming:

  • The heartbeat of New York City  in solidarity and support for the more than one million people in 180 countries who have been affected by COVID-19.
  • Twinkling hourly in the colors of first responders  to pay tribute to the heroic emergency service workers who are at the forefront of combat. Colors encompass yellow, blue, red, white, green, and gray by dispatchers, public security officers, correctional officers, firefighters, paramedics, and members of the armed forces of our communities who have risked their lives for all of us.
  • The synchronized music show and night lights 9:00 pm with the version of Empire State of Mind by Alicia Keys ,  in partnership with iHeartMedia and Z100. Every night, before starting the LIVE light show, Elvis Duran mentions and greets a hero from the front line of combat. Remember to join the conversation by posting a video on social media tagged #EmpireStateBuilding and #iHeartNewYork.
  • A five-minute moment of darkness  directly following the 9:00 pm show to honor the memory of those who have lost their lives in the global pandemic and those grieving for them.
